“Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” Confirmed

Yesterday, The USA Today published an article with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry that stated Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be in stores this upcoming June. Activision confirmed this as well in a press release today.

To kick off the announcement, Activision is also offering a free download of the Aerosmith song “Dream On”, for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The free download is available from Feb 16-18 on the XBOX Live Marketplace for 360 owners and from the Playstation Store for PS3 owners.

“Having a game built around Aerosmith has been a huge honor and really a great experience for us,” says Joe Perry. “We’ve put a lot of ideas into the game so that fans can have fun interacting with our music, getting inside our body of work and learning about the band’s history.”

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will follow the band’s history, beginning with their first gig at Nipmuc High School in 1970, up to their 2001 Superbowl halftime performance.

Activision held motion capture sessions with the band so that the appearances in the game would seem realistic. There will also be some guest opening acts in the game. We’re excited to see a little Run-DMC cameo!

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be available in June for PlayStation 2 and 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. The expected retail price is $50 USD.
