Portal’s ‘Still Alive’ to be released for Rock Band

Portal fans rejoice.

At this years Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the Valve team announced that the song ‘Still Alive’ would be available as a download for Rock Band.

Valve held a party at Temple nightclub in San Francisco, with entertainment supplied by Jonathan Coulton.  At the end of his set, Coulton announced that he had just one more song to play. He then invited some members of the Harmonix team up on stage to play with him.

Dan Teasdale (a designer), and Alex Rigopulos (co-founder of Harmonix) jumped on stage with “Rock Band” equipment.  They started to scroll through the list of available songs and finally stopped when they got to “Still Alive” by GLaDOS

The song was very well received at the Valve party, so much so in fact that some drunk guy jumped up on stage and tried to copy the song onto his memory card.  That’s right, someone was carrying around a memory card.

‘Still Alive’ plays at the end of the videogame Portal and was written by Jonathan Coulton, a folk rock singer-songwriter.  The catchy and funny song became a surprise hit along with Portal.

No date has been announced for the song’s release for Rock Band
