Rock Band to announce first Full Album Tomorrow?

whosnext.jpgAlright, here’s the rumor that we’re starting today…

Tomorrow, Rock Band developers Harmonix will likely announce the release of the first full album download for Rock Band.

That’s right… we went there. And here’s our reasoning…

Clue #1
On Friday, the following post was on the official Rock Band Forums

Post Title: Nothing to see here - (DLC announcement on Monday)
Posted By: HMXSean

Due to circumstances beyond my control we won’t be announcing next week’s DLC until Monday afternoon. Probably around 2… maybe earlier, maybe later… but I am aiming for 2. That’s eastern time, post meridiem.

See you then,
Sean

PS Go, go gadget conspiracy theories!

Clue #2
Now do you remember the Rock Band update we mentioned last week? The update which allowed songs to be purchased in-game. That same update hinted about the option for Full Albums.

Clue #3
Alright, this isn’t really a clue, but it’s been 8 months since Full Album downloads were first announced as a feature of Rock Band.

The first announcement coming at E3 in July 2007, where Harmonix announced that Full Albums would be available, with the first album being the Who’s “Who’s Next”.

The second major announcement was made by Harmonix’s Dan Teasdale, one of the senior developers, who announced in an interview that they were able to get Nirvana’s “Nevermind”.

So there ya go… a rumor with no concrete evidence, but we believe that they’re delaying the announcement while putting on the finishing touches.

We should find out tomorrow for sure, and you bet we’ll let you know either way.
