Harmonix/Ea: No Shortage of Peripherals for Rock Band Euro Release

From all the interviews he’s been doing over the last few days it would appear as though Harmonix’s Rob Kay is working overtime doing PR (or perhaps damage control given the Euro release of Rock Bands less than ecstatic response).

In an interview with TVG Kay confirmed that, unlike the U.S. release of Rock Band, there would be no shortage of peripherals for the European release.

From the interview;

“There was a little bit of that, which was part of the teething problems we had in getting the hardware out there in the US, and that’s also part of the reason why we wanted to get all of our ‘ducks in a row’ and get everything lined up so that when we release in the UK, there are none of those problems.”

“We’ve set it up differently because we want to give people choice,” Kay continued. “It’s actually the way we wanted to do it in the states but now we can take our time and get it right here first. We make the guitar available separately (which is wireless) and the drums available separately.”

More info after the break.

Additionally, according to the interview an EA spokesman also confirmed that the indivisual instrumenta would also be on sale May 23, alongside the game.

This at least is good news for a change, but we’re still waiting for the release date to confirm that this isn’t just lip service.

North American customers might remember how long it took to get individual peripherals.  The wireless guitars just came out this week!
