Slashbot! The Guitar Hero Playing Robot

slashbot.jpgThis isn’t the first Guitar Hero playing robot, but it’s the latest, and it’s also very accurate.

Four undergraduate students at Texas A&M University have developed a Guitar Hero playing robot, which they’ve dubbed Slashbot.  Slashbot is a tribute to both the guitarist Slash, as well as technology website Slashdot.

Slashbot works by reading pixel info from a television screen and translates that information to the controllers on top of the Guitar Hero guitar, which is a series of levers and switches that strum and press down the fret buttons.

Slashbot has it’s own website the details the development.  The most recent additions are the ’strum actuator’ and an actuator above the select button to activate Star Power.

Slashbot just recently scored 96% on Cliffs of Dover on Expert.  View the video, and development of Slashbot on the Slashbot Homepage.
