Guitar Hero World Tour Release Date and Prices
By Jorge Campos on May 23, 2008 in News
Oh GameStop, how we love thee…
Gamestop.com has already put up listings for Guitar Hero World Tour, and here are the most important details.
They have a shipping date of 10/27/08, which leads us to believe that the current planned release date for Guitar Hero World tour is in fact October 27 2008. Obviously this is not official and is certainly subject to change, but it’s definately worth noting.
Next is pricing… Guitar Hero World Tour looks like it will be more expensive than Rock Band. The Guitar Hero World Tour band bundle is listed at $189.99. Now it’s possible that they’re including a second guitar for the bass, but I doubt it. Now with Rock Band looking at lowering the pricing on their bundles I don’t think this would be a time for Activision to be increasing the price.
Here are the rest of the prices. The PS2 versions of the World Tour Band Kit and Game are $10 lower in price, but the Guitar Kit is priced the same as the current generation console versions. The Wii version of the game is the same price as PS2, but pricing on the bundles remains the same as PS3 and 360.
Guitar Hero World Tour Band Kit - $189.99/$179.99 [360] [PS3] [Wii] [PS2]
Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Kit - $99.99 [360] [PS3] [Wii] [PS2]
Guitar Hero World Tour Game - $59.99/$49.99 [360] [PS3] [Wii] [PS2]
No screenshots or product info yet… but it’s still a while away.
Many thanks to some sharp eyed viewers who sent us this information!!

Daaaamn if only it came out before my birthday on October 18thh. ://
and why’s it more expensive than rock bandd?
Diego Bravo | May 30, 2008 | Reply
I wouldn’t expect that to be the final price. When Gamestop first listed Rock Band they had the price at $199.99 and the price ended up being $169.99 for most bundles.
Expect Activision to try to keep the pricing a little more competitive.

I cant wait for this version to come out, to answer diagos lil question, it will be more expensive becasue, well the drum set is different, and is more complex, but comes fully essembled so you dont need to put stuff togother like you do for Rock Band and its from the series of quitar heros so is obviously gonig to be more difficult then rockband (becasue rock band is really easy).

But wouldn’t the band kit include the game?
Daniel | Jun 6, 2008 | Reply
I suspect so…

The drum kit this time around compared to rockband is greatly enhanced. the toms and cymbals are velocity sensitive, meaning that they register louder and quieter sounds on impact. there was an undetermined screen shot of the newly developed guitar which has a touch pad on the neck below the buttons developed by RedOctane.

hope this helps. i just paid off the entire bundle yesterday. now it’s just a matter of waiting 3 whole months. O_O

Just so you know the guitar will have the touch pad lower under the original buttons. The old guitar will still work. you can also use the guitar as a drum [ I found that out in the offical xbox magazine].

The price would definitely be lowered, I expect 170 for PS3 and 360, the 160 for PS2 and Wii, that’s just me, though. Also, even if it were as expensive as they list, it would be so worth it! The drums look more expensive and the guitar will definitely be more expensive anyway, so it also seems realistic and passable from a business standpoint. Either way, I’m getting the band bundle on PS3!!!

Ok you have to bare in mind here that the band in a box for Rock Band was about $169.99, but it didn’t come witht eh game….. thats an extra £59.99 coming to about $230 as a whole, where as this may seem more expensive at the time, it may include the game with it, meaning it is infact cheaper
roryos | Jul 15, 2008 | Reply
replying to Roryos - I don’t know where you got your Rock Band but when I bought it the game was with it. You got ripped off.
NotReallyA_Hero | Jul 15, 2008 | Reply
The Wii, the Xbox 360, and the PS3 cost the same, only the PS2 version is cheaper.
AwesomeRocker | Jul 19, 2008 | Reply
