First Look at Rock Band Mad Catz Peripherals
By Tyler Ryan on Jun 2, 2008 in News
A member of the ScoreHero forums, BigZ7337, recently caught a glimpse of the upcoming Mad Catz Rock Band controllers over at play.com
And while the listings have since been taken down, he managed to snag some pictures.
You can get better look by clicking one of the thumbnails for a bigger picture.
Mad Catz signed a deal with Harmonix a few months back to be an official manufacturer for 3rd party Rock Band controllers but this is the first news we’ve heard since the announcement.
Answering the prayers of the singing only Rock Band gamers, the microphone can act as a controller.
As the items were removed we can’t give much more information, however other highlights from the thread was a description of the bass controller;
Design subject to change
Licensed Fender Precision bass styling
Comfortable thumb rest
Custom finishes for enhanced realism
Whammy effect via volume knob
Split strum bar for fast finger action
Oversized tuning keys
Durable plastic construction
Wired USB connectivity
The split strum bar can be seen with the bigger picture. The guitar controller looks like it may have a split strum bar as well.
Neither guitar controllers have whammy bars but, according to the thread, to whammy on the guitar controller you would tap the bridge plate (which is cool), and for the bass controller you would use the volume knob (? I cant explain, but it sounds uncomfortable to use).
No drums were listed but another user on the forum says that the drum peripheral “has cymbals and an actual beat pad for the bass drum“.
While we can’t provide much more info with respect to pricing, someone else mentioned a price point of around 70 pounds. That would work out to about $140 - mind you prices tend to be much higher for such items ‘across the pond’.
We’re looking for more info and will update when we get some.

Exactly…???
Couldn’t say, but we’ve heard June 22nd. Of course, that date is creeping up kind of fast and we’re still without a lot of information, so I doubt that as the date.
They’ve set up a site to announce it, but no real information is on there yet;

I hope that’s useful
