Drums “The Focus” of Rock Revolution - Konami’s Matejka

Gamasutra has an article that features a discussion they had with Konami’s Keith Matejka who is the Rock Revolution Associate Producer.

At a recent Konami event, Matejka told Gamasutra that they plan to be competitive in the rhythm game market with a main focus on Rock Revolution’s drums.

Some highlights include Matejka saying that they’ve “been working on Rock Revolution for a long time, well before anyone else was out” and that they believe they will have the best drum set.

For anyone not familiar with Rock Revolution, Konami announced last month that they would be entering the instrument based gaming market for consoles.  Konami have been successful in the past at the arcades with both Guitar Freaks and DrumMania, but Rock Revolution is their first foray in going head to head with the likes of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

I certainly hope that they’re not trying to get into the ’social’ gaming market by making a game that has really great drums parts and then shirking on the rest of the instruments…  especially if they’re trying to sell a bundle.
