Rock Revolution Developer Announced - Zoë Mode
By Tyler Ryan on Jun 17, 2008 in News
Game developer Zoë Mode announced today that they would be developing Rock Revolution for Konami on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
While Konami has plenty of experience in the rhythm game market, Rock Revolution is the publishers first attempt at a fame along the lines of Guitar Hero or Rock Band for the console market.
Zoë Mode has experience in the rhythm game market themselves having been involved in developing games in the SingStar series, as well as Dancing With The Stars.
Zoë Mode Studio head Ed Day had this to say about working on the Rock Revolution project;
“We are delighted to be working with Konami and the BEMANI team who invented the genre. In addition to introducing a number of genre defining features that will soon be announced, we are also working hard to deliver a drumming experience balanced so that beginners, experts and everyone in between can have a blast rocking out to their favorite tracks”.
Here’s what we know so far about Rock Revolution; The game will feature 40 songs on disk, with more available through DLC. Rock Revolution will be a full band game (guitar, bass, vocals, drums). The main gameplay method in Rock Revolution will be the career mode, but the game will also feature Co-op and band multiplayer modes, as well as both online and offline versus modes. Rock Revolution will also have what they’re calling Jam Mode that will let you create your own performances ‘on the fly’. “Jam Session” will allow you to create your own songs, using up to 8 ‘tracks’.
Oh, and here are some new screenshots;

Nothing for the Wii? Damn, this pisses me off. Why is the Wii always being ignored? Just reduce the graphics, that’s all.
Anyways, I still prefer Guitar Hero’s interface and drumset.
I’ll wait for the reviews first.

…but I’m assuming it’s going to have a different developer yet to be announced.

Woops, I didn’t read this one.
Oh well, this new era of rythm games is making every developer jalous… and players confused.
When I started with Bust-A-Groove on PSX, I never thought rythm games would be that popular 7 years later!
