First Look at Madcatz’s Rock Band Drums

Thanks to Console Hero reader swift for sending us the link.

MadCatz, makers of gaming peripherals, signed a deal with EA/MTV way back in January to produce official 3rd party peripheral for Rock Band.

A few details had been leaked out recently, including pictures of the Guitar, Bass, and Microphone, but we had been waiting for more info on the drums.

We got it today as Amazon has the products listed on their website along with a few pictures.  Most of the products will be available between July 15th - August 15th.

Premium Drums:
premiumdrums.jpg As was rumored, the MadCatz premium Rock Band drums do feature raised cymbals.

Based on the picture, we’re happy to report that the premium drums also include dual bass pedals.  Correction:  The second pedal on the drum set is for the added hi-hat. (thanks to RockBandMods for pointing this out)

The premium drums aren’t cheap though. The list price on amazon is currently $149.99

Portable Drums:
portabledrums.jpg Also released today is a picture of portable drums for Rock Band released by MadCatz.

Based on the picture, the portable drums appear to be a series of thin round pads attached to each other by wires.  At either end of the pads appear to be wires with one going to what looks to be the ‘bass pedal’, and the other wire to the ‘controller’

The portable drums are currently listed on Amazon for $49.99.

Other Items

Along with the drums come a few more Rock Band branded items including Xbox 360 Rock Band faceplates, a storage case designed like a Fender amplifier, A mic stand, A microphone, a guitar case, and a guitar strap.

We’ve got more pictures and links to the products on Amazon after the break

  1. The premium drums don’t have a double bass. If you would follow your leads more, you would see that in the original story it shows that the second pedal is for the hi-hat as it also has a yellow stripe across it.

    Thanks for the heads up!

We were looking at the pictures on Amazon and still working on the post… we neglected to read the description as of yet.

  5. :)

Admittedly, a little more tact could have been used… but I’m not about to get offended as I didn’t take it as a personal attack.

  6. Damn, that Telecaster is pure sex. If word of mouth is good on performance I’m definately nabbing that. Any word if they’ll be the same scale as the Strat (I believe it’s 3/4 the size of an actual Stratocaster)

I was glad that you commented as it helped me to correct an error… plus it let me know about your site (wicked layout btw).

If I felt the comment was offensive I would have removed the comment… so it’s obviously fine :)
