PopStar Guitar - Another Guitar Game Is Coming

Just what we need, another guitar based videogame.
Just what we need, another guitar based videogame.
Videogame publisher XS games announced yesterday that it would be releasing a new Guitar based video game titled Popstar Guitar.

PopStar Guitar will be released for the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2, and will take advantage of their new “AirG™ Peripheral”.

PopStar Guitar will feature such great guitar bands like… uh…   3 Doors Down and Simple Plan.  Maybe we missed something…

“The popularity of music rhythm games is at an all time high, but to date the games have primarily featured hard core metal, classic and alternative rock music,” said Steve Grossman, chief executive officer of XS Games.

Oh, ok.  They’re intentionally licensing songs from mediocre artists.  Just checking.

Here are the main details released so far;

Over 50 songs with several master tracks
Single Player Career Mode
Two Player Co-Op Mode
Twelve Playable Characters
25 Unique Venues

Look for PopStar Guitar to be released in October.

Full press release and more info after the break.

  1. Looks shittastic. But with 12 playable characters and 25 venues, that’s pretty good but overlooking that are the bands like 3 Doors Down and Simple Plan, they suck, the only mediocre band listed at the moment would be Blink 182.

  2. You must mean «the only NON-mediocre band», right?

  3. He Must xD.

Thats a Game i will hate more than i hate Pop… I Just hate it… there’s no music there just money… but well, i guess i hate it less than i hate Techno…

But Wait… Blink is pop? …

Oh… i get it! They’re “pop”, so, if they see money, they say “Hey, let’s try to get another one like that to see if we can get as many cash as they!” ¬¬ … They Always try that…

  4. perhaps I was a little harsh in my description…
Yes I hate Simple Plan, but I really don’t mind 3 Doors Down, and I actually like Blink 182. But I am curious as to see how well this game will do. And what it has to offer.

We will be following this one for sure.

  5. Meh. I’ll probably try it by curiosity but I know that I’ll always stick to GH and RB games.
