Upcoming Music Games

Lips is just one of many new music games scheduled for release before the end of the year
To top that off, we will be treated to even more guitar and full band games including Rock Revolution, Ultimate Band, Battle of the Bands, Wii Music and PopStar Guitar.
Karaoke game fans are also getting two more competitors in the market through Microsoft Game Studios foray into the genre with Lips, and Disney Interactive Studios is bringing us Disney Sing It.
When we started up Console Hero there was a decided focus on Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but there was always interest in the music genre as a whole. We will be expanding our coverage to incorporate the new games as well, but we will not lose sight of our main focus - which will still be Guitar Hero and Rock Band news.
New To The Site
You might have noticed some extra navigation bars just below the header of our website titled ‘Other Instrument Based Games‘ and ‘Karaoke Games‘.
It is there that you will be able to find information on other music based games, as well as on our main page when there is important news to share.
We have just added preview pages for Rock Revolution, PopStar Guitar, Lips, and Disney Sing It. You will also see that we’re expanding and should have preview pages up shortly for all upcoming music games.
As a fun treat, we’ve also added an information page for the music game ‘beatmania’ which, with it’s similar gameplay, many consider to be a precursor to Guitar Hero. We certainly haven’t forgotten the past, and will be adding information pages for games past as we as game series, such as SingStar, which are continuing to thrive.

I don’t think Disney Sing It will be appealing to the same demographics as SingStar or a Guitar Hero… but I still think it will do well. High School Musical Sing It did very well, hence the follow up to it.
And don’t knock Lips… The karaoke games are pretty much all the same, but Lips will have the ability to connect to an mp3 device and allow you to use the library of songs on it (provided the songs aren’t DRM protected). It’s supposed to be able to automatically minimize the vocals as well - here’s hoping they’re able to get that right, because it’s very difficult to get something that sounds right.
