Lips

Lips is an upcoming karaoke game that is being developed by INiS and will be published through Microsoft Game Studios.

Lips will be available as part of a bundle that comes with two microphones, one black and one white.

Lips will be released for the Xbox 360 for the holiday 2008 season.

Gameplay

The basic gameplay for Disney Sing It is very similar to most karaoke video games. The music video for the song will play in the background while colored pitch bars appear in front. Lyrics will be shown at the bottom of the screen, and players must try to match the right pitch.

Microsoft has mentioned that the Lips’ microphones will feature motion sensors, and that movement of the microphone will be a factor in the game. How motion of the microphone will affect Lips has not been announced.

Players of Lips will also be able to use the microphone to tap along to parts where there is clapping, a tambourine, or a cowbell.

Lips will feature either one or two player modes. Lips will also feature an online mode where you can compete on the online leaderboards or take advantage of the new spectator mode.

Soundtrack

The exact number of songs that will be included with Lips has not been confirmed, but developer INiS has stated that they hope to have around 40 songs at launch. More songs will be available for Lips through the use of DLC.

Gamers will have the ability to load songs from a portable music device into Lips to sing along to, provided that the song is free of any DRM protection. Microsoft has hinted at the ability to significantly reduce the vocals of tracks loaded into the game.

Tracks on the disc that are currently known are;

Young MC - “Bust A Move”
Duffy - “Mercy”
Peter Bjorn and John - “Young Folks”
